Alpha Dog Training - Information

Unlike conventional dog training the Alpha Dog training system is split into 2 different ‘approaches’ and depending on you and your dog (dog’s) we will need to find the best ‘approach’ for you. That is why there is always a FREE 30-45 minute consultation/assessment before beginning any work so that we can meet and find out more before deciding if Alpha Dog Training is right for you and which of the methods is appropriate for your needs and the needs of your dog (dog’s).

The first approach is “Alpha Dog Listening Training”. This system primarily uses the methodology developed by Jan Fennel based on her pioneering work with the ‘pack concept’. “Dog Listening Training” is ideal for issues like anxiety and nervousness as well as helping to increase areas like recall and obedience. This approach starts with an initial session that lasts about 1½ hours and costs £60.00. Following this session any follow ups cost £40.00 and last about 1 hour. Many problems can be dealt with in one session but some problems may need 1 or 2 follow ups.

The second approach is “Alpha Dog Whispering” and this style of training is much more for those who wish to develop a deeper and more intense understanding of how to work with and change issues like aggression and dominance. “Dog Whisperer” training involves and utilises human psychology as well as dog psychology. With “Dog Whispering” the first session lasts about 2½-3 hours and costs £100.00. Follow up sessions are £40.00 per hour. Although most problems can be done in 2-3 sessions in some cases up to 6 may be needed. This is because we do not have access to a “pack” of balanced dogs like Cesar Millan uses, which means that aggression issues do require more time and work. Some dogs need 3-6 months to REALLY change! (Don’t be fooled by “quick fix” TV programs)

The fees are fully inclusive of travel and Simon visits extend to a 30 mile area around Brighton including west to Worthing and east to Eastbourne. Sessions are usually held Monday-Friday with some availability at weekends and evenings with no extra charge.
